Winning the 1.5 million pound contract for the dredging of Norfolk broads area known as the highly sensitive Trinity Broads, Ponds UK – Aquatic Management Ltd will be utilising their specialist suction dredger which is designed specifically for highly sensitive areas which require minimal disruption.
The machine is able to pump over 500,000 litres per hour at distances over 1.5km with zero sediment drift and reduced noise levels. Gently lifting the material from the bed of the Norfolk broads the team will be pumping to silt containment bag known as dewatering tubes. These allow the water to drain from the material whilst retaining the silt which will be later spread across local farmland.
The aim is to increase water capacity within the SSSI site managed by Natural England and Norfolk Wildlife Trust.
