In order to protect our natural habitats, villages, towns and cities, local rivers need to be well managed and kept in good order to prevent and reduce the risks of flooding and the subseqent damage that it causes. One of the ways to keep a river in good condition is regular dredging, which helps keep water volumes high and flow levels moving. This reduces the risk of flooding and drains blocking in towns and villages and consequently prevents damage to the surrounding landscapes.
Aside from the obvious advantages of good river maintenance, we also need to keep rivers clean and beautiful so that we can all enjoy them. This includes keeping them navigable for boating and accessible and attractive for those who simply enjoy walking by them or fishing, as all of these leisure pursuits are best enjoyed on a clean waterway.
At Ponds UK – Aquatic Management Ltd we have years of experience and knowledge of dredging rivers in all locations, with an outstanding background and expertise in all forms of dredging techniques. In most cases, excavation has been the method requested by local councils, trusts and environment agency offices. Occasionly though, it’s been necessary to use hydraulic pumping methods, as this causes less disturbance to the surrounding areas, i.e. dredging from the bank .
We have a strong fleet of long reach machines available alongside floating dredging equipment, which includes pontoons, boats and barges.
Our Hydraulic dredging system is completely custom and unique to the UK, it incorporates a new head system which allows for maximum solids pickup while lowering the risk of drifting solids which could work their way further down stream in the natural river flow. This makes the dredger highly suited to SSSI and other sensitive areas. The system is also modular which means there is no need for heavy Cranes to lift machinery and no need for extensive access, this system can sympathetically be brought to work on the back of a car trailer but still achieve results greater than conventional Hydraulic Cutter Dredgers. On top of this we are now also able to easily push material huge distances on the main pump alone which means less running costs, less noise and reduced setup times.
We supply all equipment and our River Dredging services to domestic and commercial clients throughout the United Kingdom. For more information and advice about any of our products or river management and consultancy services, please email email@example.com or call 0800 4725524 or 01206 620211.
